Bookkeep alternative for studio sales journal entries

Checked against Bookkeep's live pricing and feature pages on .

The short answer

Choose Bookkeep if you want sales posted to your books every day with nobody doing a month-end task, if your members' prepaid revenue needs deferral, or if you do not use QuickBooks Online. Choose Studio Month-End if you want to export a file and import a file with nothing connected to your studio software or your books, if you have months of history to book without a per-entry charge, or if you look after several studios and want one price for up to 15.

At one small studio the monthly price is the same: Bookkeep's Lite plan and our Studio plan are both $19 a month. The difference is automation versus control, not cost.

Why people look for a Bookkeep alternative

Three things send people from automated posting to a file you build yourself. The first is the connection: Bookkeep links your studio account to your accounting system, and some owners and bookkeepers would rather not grant that access. The second is history: on Bookkeep's pricing page, entries for days before you signed up are billed at $0.35 each and cannot be posted during the free trial [1]. The third is price once you grow: Lite is limited to businesses up to $200,000 in annual revenue with one channel, and every higher plan is priced per entity [1].
